Introduction to the Competition

This art competition gave creative individuals the unique opportunity to influence public perception of human space exploration through visual expression. Participants were invited to design an original poster that captures what space exploration means to them personally, as well as its broader importance to society and national heritage.

The aim was to inspire the public across the Visegrad Four (V4) countries to explore the intersection of art, science, and identity. Through five competition categories, the contest welcomed a wide range of participants—from professional artists to children and individuals with special needs—encouraging them to share their vision of humanity’s journey to the stars.

Now, the results are in—meet the winners who turned imagination into a powerful message for the future of space exploration!

The Winning Works

Professional – Jan Bača, Slovakia

Space Race

“Space Race” captures the thrilling intersection of human ambition and cosmic exploration in a dynamic, minimalist style. An astronaut sprints along a bold red track that spirals into the dark expanse of space, symbolizing humanity’s relentless pursuit of progress. The stark contrast between the red track and the deep maroon background heightens the sense of urgency and ambition. The track’s curvature echoes the orbital paths of celestial bodies, seamlessly blending the themes of competition and exploration.
With its limited color palette and striking composition, “Space Race” invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s drive to push boundaries and explore the unknown, making it a powerful visual metaphor for ambition and discovery.

The Vision

“The Vision project is about combining graphics, text, and ideas into one visual piece. The main focus is on light, shadow, and transparency. Some elements slowly appear or disappear, creating an interesting effect. Text is not just for reading—it is part of the design. It can be distorted, blurred, or layered to look different from what we usually see. To create the design, I mainly use Adobe Illustrator, working with layers and the Opacity Mask effect. This helps me blend objects smoothly. I might also add animation to make the project more dynamic. I get inspiration from modern graphic styles and digital art. The goal of Vision is not just to create a cool visual, but also to make people think. I want to show that graphic design is not only about nice images—it can have a deeper meaning.” – Michal Rogie
